THE LAC DE SAINT-CYR BIRD SANCTUARY
The Bird Sanctuary of Saint-Cyr, located within the Domain, also opens its doors to you: thanks to the 5 observatories and the guided tours offered by the volunteers of the LPO Poitou-Charentes, come and discover the birds that live together on the site where there make a stop during their migratory ballet.
Since 2009, the 40 ha bird sanctuary, managed and run by the LPO, has been set up on the site and aims to soon evolve into a Regional Nature Reserve. The reserve has a few rare species: 213 species of birds, 32 species of dragonflies, 7 species of amphibians, 277 varieties for vascular plants and 11 natural habitats are listed there. You can observe the great crested grebe, the common tern, the white-tailed lapwing, or the mute swan, but also several species of dragonflies, the marbled newt, the bee orchid or the guinea fowl fritillarium.
The Bird Sanctuary of Saint-Cyr is on the way to becoming the tenth regional reserve in New Aquitaine and the first in Vienne.
