The Regional Nature Reserve located within the Saint-Cyr Lake Domain, also opens its doors to you: thanks to the observatories and the guided tours offered by the volunteers of the LPO Poitou-Charentes, come and discover the birds that live together on the site where there make a stop during their migratory ballet.

Set up, then managed and run by the LPO (Birds Protection League) since 2009, the 40 ha bird sanctuary was classified as a Regional Nature Reserve in June 2022. The Regional Nature Reserve has a few rare species: 213 species of birds, 32 species of dragonflies, 7 species of amphibians, 277 varieties for vascular plants and 11 natural habitats are listed there. You can observe the great crested grebe, the common tern, the white-tailed lapwing, or the mute swan, but also several species of dragonflies, the marbled newt, the bee orchid or the guinea fowl fritillarium.
